Tzitzis Unfolded (unknotting and telling)
screen-printed, dyed, heat pressed, and watercolored muslin, cotton, and velour with directions for treatment stating:
1. Unkot the knots
2. Find the Prompts
3. Unkot some more
4. Choose one prompt and discuss with a peer

With this interactive installation I bring connection, play, wonder, and joy into the hands of the participants. Each strand of the fabric is knotted in the manner of Tzitzis, the holy garments that my brothers and dad wore when I was a child. I pulled on them but I never unknotted them. Now the activators unknot the printed strands and discuss what family, holy or unholy, means to them personally.
